Our most recent investment in equipment to ensure that our client’s web videos look amazing. And we made that investment at Bergen County Camera, a great local store here in northern New Jersey. This super fast f1.4 35mm lens is full of Canon goodness and we already used it while shooting our upcoming video for a local Counseling Service. Can’t wait to share it soon.

We went to the NJ Tech Meet Up this week at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ to listen to Joy Marcus, Venture Partner, DFJ Gotham Ventures and former head of US operations for DailyMotion. Here is a video we released just before the holidays for a 3rd generation, family owned tuxedo shop on Main Street in West Orange, NJ. There is no substitute for the quality of service you get when the owner of the business takes care of you. This probably has something to do with why customers were not only lined up for fittings but some were coming in just to say “hi” and share the latest news. When’s the last time that happened at a large chain store?

If we had to pick the one 2011 project we are most proud of it would have to be this video we did for the township of West Orange, NJ. Trying to capture any town in one video is tough but West Orange covers over 12 square miles and is filled with a huge variety of attractions. After touring the hugely impressive Thomas Edison Historical Park located on their Main Street we developed a theme around “invention” and then brought that story around to today by profiling a wide range of interesting and inventive assets within the town.

Not only did the video come out well but thanks to a careful keyword analysis it has gotten over 4,500 views in just 8 months and area realtors have reported using it as a marketing tool for prospective home buyers new to the area.

As 2012 approaches we are looking forward to helping more towns tell their story to the masses with web video. Happy New Year!

Well, it isn’t quite Christmas just yet but we peeked and we already know what we got. A brand spanking new “Patent Pending” on the Vidoovy video hosting platform we are currently creating! The amazing staff at the Patent and Trademark firm of Gearhart Law have been working with us for the past few months and they just gave us the official word yesterday.

This platform will be a powerful tool for communities looking to bring life back to their central shopping districts by attracting foot traffic from nearby residents and businesses. But it will go even further. Our goal is to provide a rich, online experience that will allow people to really get to know their communities in a very unique way.

We are hoping to have a beta version of the site live by March 1st, 2012 and will provide updates as we get closer.

Here is a video we did more recently for another Main Street business in West Orange, NJ. Supreme Bakery has been in business for 40 years and it shows in the level of skill we witnessed while shooting. Not only were the custom designed cakes works of art but when people eat the baked goods there they have an involuntary response where their eyes roll back and they go, “Nomnomnommm.” You will never find this kind of craftsmanship at a big box store.

The centers of our towns used to be the centers of our civic lives but there are many well funded forces working to change that.
